How to Know What You Love the Most
What do you love the most? Was it the first thing you thought about when you woke up this morning? Remember the last time you could not sleep at night. What did you toss and turn thinking about? When you are driving your car and have some down time where does your mind go?
In Matthew 6 Jesus says hypocrites pray all kinds of things in public. He told his followers to pray in public but also in private. Why? Because what you think about and pray about in private tells you what you love most. Every time.
Why did Jesus teach us to pray beginning with the phrase, “Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed by your name?” To hallow means to adore, to deem as sacred, to cherish, to honor, to love. He was teaching us a way to love God more than anything else.
The Christmas Carol, “O Come All Ye Faithful,” invites us to “Come and adore him.” I hope you will say yes to that invitation this Christmas season, because what you love the most will determine how happy and whole you become over time. Join us this Advent season at Restoration Community Church.
