You Can't Live for God Alone

You can't live for God alone.  If you try you will probably not finish the journey you have begun with Jesus.  At the very least you will not run the race well. Here are three reasons why Subj Line:  You can't live for God alone

You can't live for God alone.  If you try you will probably not finish the journey you have begun with Jesus.  At the very least you will not run the race well.

Here are three reasons why God made us to live for him together.

1.  God's nature.  God has always existed in relationship; Father, Son, Holy Spirit.  He does everything in community with the three persons known as God.  This is one of those great, quantum mysteries we can't wrap our minds around.  What we can understand is that we were made out of relationship for relationship.  Example: One of your parents could not have had you without the other.  We were designed by God to grow together.

2.  We are incredibly capable of deceiving ourselves.  By ourselves we can justify just about anything.  Jeremiah 17:9 says that the sinful part of our hearts is constantly tricking us.  Romans one teaches us that sin has distorted our ability to think.  We need other people, seeking God through his Word, around us to help us know the truth about our lives and souls.

3.  We can't live God's mission alone.  Before there was a church there was a mission.  There is the cultural mandate to care for the world and use God's resources to bless others (Genesis 2).  There is the spiritual mandate to bless all nations with the knowledge of God (Genesis 12). Both of these missions or mandates existed before the church.

The church does not have a mission, the mission has a church.  We can't do the mission of God alone.  At least not well.  We need a team.  That team is the church.

There are many other reasons we cannot live for God going solo.  What one's can you think of?
