Miracles & the Power of Prayer

On June 23, 2018 Matt Crowe was in an extremely serious mountain bike accident in Carbondale, Colorado. The injuries he sustained were so significant he had to be airlifted to a Denver where he immediately underwent a 6 hour surgery.

Matt had fractured his spine, people who suffer this type of spine injury are quite often paralyzed with little hope of walking again.

The moment we heard of Matt’s accident, we began to mobilize as a church. We emailed, called and texted, sharing prayer requests for Matt. Dozens of people came together that night and formed a team to begin caring for Matt, his wife Janelle, and their kids. The outlook initially seemed grim but we continued to pray and trust God.

Several days after the emergency surgery to repair Matt’s spine, we received an unexpected message. The doctors were using the “M” word (miracle). Matt could move his hands, arms, legs, and feet. No one could believe it.

This incredible news was followed a week later by even more amazing news; Matt had taken his first steps. We are astounded and beyond grateful for answered prayers.

On July 14, 2018 Matt was discharged from the hospital and returned home to his family.

Prayer is real and powerful. Matt’s story is an example and testimony of God’s power and the transformation that happens when a community comes together to pray. Miracles really do happen!
